Meet the Facilitator: Emily Russel
Emily is a college student originally from Denver, Colorado who has been dabbling in the visual arts since high school. Passionate about international education, Emily spent the summer of 2010 teaching English and leading a Listen to my Pictures project at a primary school in Southeastern Turkey. She is a member of George Washington University’s Class of 2013, where she is studying International Affairs, Global Health, and Fine Arts.
About the Project
The 2010 LtmP Adiyaman project was hosted in conjunction with Learning Enterprises, an education non-profit dedicated to teaching English around the world. Following language lessons in the morning, two groups of primary and secondary school students met every other day to learn the basics of framing, light, and perspective before venturing into the city to photographically document their lives.
The students’ work was displayed at a George Washington University library show in the Spring of 2011.
